Please note that as a doula…

• I don't perform clinical tasks such as fetal heart monitoring, blood pressure and vaginal exams.

• I don't make decisions for you. I will help you get the information and clarity you need to make informed decisions.

• I don't speak directly to clinical staff regarding matters where health care decisions are being made. You and your partner will speak on your own behalf. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options as well as encourage you to voice your opinions and questions with your care provider. I will also remind you if there is a departure from your Birth Vision.

• I can't take the discomfort away but I can help you optimize the remarkable cocktail of labor hormones that help to minimize your perception of discomfort.
